On Friday night, I saw Space Dimension Controller at Club Twentyone in Florence, Italy. It was hosted by LATTEX+, a project aimed at providing cutting-edge clubbing and music scene based in Florence.I have never heard of this guy before and had no idea he was going to be playing in Florence but RCP contributor saravasti gave me the heads-up and I am so, so glad she did because it turned out to be the sickest night I’ve experienced in Florence so far. Space Dimension Controller is a space disco DJ, and rather than provide the little knowledge I acquired on space disco in the past two days, I am going to redirect you to this article by the folks over at pitchfork.com that gives a really good overview on what space disco is and recommends artists. They describe it as being “dance music informed not only by 30 years of disco records, but by every other record out there as well: There is no agenda to fit them all in, but at the same time, there is no rule that says you can only play one kind of music.
