Intro to Glitch Hop

I’m a huge fan of mid-tempo music. I think the recent skyrocketing of moombahton’s popularity is great, because its in that funky region of BPM where dubstep’s groove is mashed up with the high-paced, ‘jump-up’ energy of electro house. However, in the shadow of moombahton exists it’s darker, grimier cousin: glitch hop. Recently made more popular through the efforts of OWSLA signees KOAN Sound (them two dudes up top), it’s high time glitch hop got a bit of the spotlight here on RCP, so here are six tracks, handpicked by yours truly, to make you bob your head and tap your feet. All heavy, all grimy, all RCP approved.

There’s no doubt that the rate of music release in the EDM world has shifted up a gear this year and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to slow down anytime soon.
