Hey baby. It’s been a while. You missed me? Because I know I’ve been missing you…
And even if you didn’t miss my sharp wit during my brief ‘hiatus’, I know for a fact that your Radio has been missing this kind of Control. Start this week off right with a long overdue Manic Monday, double-stuffed just in case Spring Break keeps me from doing my duty to y’all next week (very likely).
Doubling up on all the goodness in the post, we got double the moombah, double the prog and double the electro to get you going. We’re about to put five hour energy out of business with fresh bangers from ranging from Nadastrom‘s heavy-heavy moombahcore to Tim Mason‘s uplifting prog goodness. Nick Thayer – Like Boom EP (OWS009)
Ever since Skrillex‘s very own OWSLA released Porter Robinson‘s Spitfire, I’ve been a fan of the label. And yes, it’s got it’s very own playlist on my iTunes, along with Dim Mak, Ed Banger, Fool’s Gold and mau5trap. Every release from OWSLA has been pushing the EDM envelope, taking us from KOAN Sound‘s funktastic glitch-hop to Zedd anthemic electro house. Here is that label’s latest offering, Nick Thayer‘s Like Boom EP, a hype party soundtrack that spans hip-hop, moombahton, drum & bass and whatever comes in between. Catch a few sampler tracks off the EP after the jump.
You Should Listen To… [#2]
I don’t see why moombahton (learn about it here) is getting so much crap from haters lately. There are a lot of moombahton originals really doing this new ‘genre’ justice, and there are tons of remixes out there to complement this new movement. But haters gon hate, and they’re saying that it doesn’t deserve to be a genre because if you take any dutch house song (think one of those Chuckie remixes) and slow it down to 108-110 bpm, you’ve got yourself a moombahton bootleg. I agree to a certain extent – there exist a lot of ‘moombahton edit’s that follow that same principle:
- Slow it down to 108-110bpm.
- Add that dirty dutch drum track.
- Add ‘Moombahton Edit/Remix’ after your name to the title of the song.
