Swedish House Mafia Feat. John Martin – Save the World (Remixes)

Damn, this song is popular. Swedish House Mafia, consisting of three individually superstarrific DJ’s, knows how, when, and with whom to make hugely successful edm anthems. I never got around to falling in love with this song, but how its remixes would turn out still intrigued me. Take a look:

Bag Raiders Feat. Dan Black – Sunlight (Remixes)

Once again, I am writing about some damn Aussies…

In November of last year, these two individuals, known collectively as Bag Raiders (don’t want to know where the name came from), released their feel-good groove-a-long ‘Sunlight.’ This Summery anthem was about 8 months shy of said season, but it provided some much appreciated island imagery and solar metaphors during a bitter winter on this side of the Atlantic (first NYU snow day in years suckas). Just in case you weren’t aware, these are the geniuses behind that sentimental disco hit ‘Shooting Stars.’ I never really appreciated Dan Black’s vocals until this song, I had always just thought he was another Jason fucking Mraz. Since the time Sunlight was released, it racked up a handful of remixes – with a couple of them appearing on the Single at its release.

So put on those fake Ray-Bans and slather on that SPF cuz I’m about to expose you to a big blazing ball of vitamin D.

And D’s for disco.

Lykke Li – Little Bit (Remixes)

Lykke Li is a Swedish musician who’s made some really sexy songs. Her new album ‘Wounded Rhymes’ is out now, so you might want to check that out later.

Lykke Li’s almost like a hotter version of Lady Gaga. She’s also provided prime remix material for the edm scene, with her first single ‘Little Bit’ churning out a whole bunch of remixes and edits. With all these remixes, Little Bit is basically another ‘Starry Eyed,’ just not as annoying. Not all of them are good, but not all of them are worth passing up. I’ve gone through a dozen of these recreations so you won’t have to, and here’s what I found. I’ve shortlisted them into groups based on how awesome they are.

Miami Horror – Sometimes (Remixes)

Miami Horror, another one of those awesome electro outfits from Australia (seems like a lot of good electro comes out from down under, e.g. Bag Raiders, Cut Copy, G.L.O.V.E.S…. ). They played in Brooklyn earlier this year at the Knitting Factory. Great show, near the end the crowd went up on stage and danced right there with the band.

Phoenix – Lisztomania (Remixes)

These French dudes blew away New York when they played at Madison Square Garden last October. Ending their set with a special guest appearance from Daft Punk probably did it. Opening the show with ‘Lisztomania’ was probably another huge part of the nonstop awesomeness that paraded around the stage the whole night.

Lisztomania is a pretty damn old song, but there is still some new fun to be had with it if you haven’t heard everything there is to hear. I would say I’ve come pretty close to that, though, having heard over two dozen remixes found all over the cyberwebz. The majority aren’t worth mentioning, but just so you can get an idea for the amount of research I put into this post, here’s what I found (including just some bedroom DJ remixes):
