Style Of Eye’s UMF 2013 Set

I wish I could have been at UMF to see this. RCP hero Style of Eye showed threw down a superb set, with a wild track list featuring productions by Dillon Francis, Diplo & GTA, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Even Missy Elliott‘s 2002 anthem ‘Work It‘ made its way into his routine. This was SoE’s debut UMF set, and he meant business. At the 1:46 mark, the set plummets into the depths rave hell, probably bursting a couple dozen skulls in and around the Miami crowd. Managing to cater to the American mainstream with a few festival staples while still showcasing his more esoteric house influences, Eklöw took the crowd in different directions every couple minutes, letting loose with some rapid fire transitions. I can’t wait until I get to see this guy live again. Listen up for his and Tom Staar‘s new track ‘After Dark‘ and his remix of Zedd‘s ‘Clarity’. He also played fellow Swede DJ Carli‘s new track, ‘Look Up‘, which is out now on A-Trak‘s Fool’s Gold Records, and definitely worth a listen.

cwI’m making up for lost time. I’ve racked up a lot of tracks since our last Transmission in October, so for a while we’ll probably be seeing a lot of old songs mixed in with newer ones. Today’s post has a theme: remixes of chillwave/indie tracks. We all know and love the originals by Washed Out, M83, and Passion Pit, but these remixes take them in cool and different directions. BeatauCue‘s remix of ‘Steve McQueen’ is a rager (I dislike that term but it works this time), Toro Y Moi‘s remix of ‘Feel It Around’ is felt in and all around my mouth, and NOZE‘s take on ‘Carried Away’ is fucking nuts. A couple of my favorites, Gesaffelstiein and Nero, are back on Transmissions again. AlunaGeorge, a sexy UK duo that I unfortunately only recently got around to checking out, are on my list with their latest release ‘Your Drums, Your Love.’ Their new EP includes remixes from Duke Dumont and Friendly Fires – win. David August Diynamic Neon Promo Mix 08-10-2012

Age used to be the biggest contender in determining the credibility of an artist, for the most iconic DJs today stay very much relevant in their late thirties, forties and fifties. Germany’s youngster David August could prove you otherwise. At only 21 years of age, the now Berlin-based August needs no number to prove his worth.

August grew up under the influence of the piano, and at just 17 years old, has already played alongside some of the most legendary icons in the field, namely Carl Craig, Troy Pierce and Oliver Koletzki, to name a few. In 2010, he joined the Diynamic label family, under Solomun, a Hamburg-based electronic music label that is known to be one of the  most forward-thinking and eclectic in the scene. August proves that he is mature for his age having played in clubs all around the world, such as Berlin’s Watergate, Amsterdam’s AIR and London’s Corsica Studios.

This clubbing season, legendary underground venue Sankey’s Ibiza hosts DIYNAMIC NEON NIGHT every Tuesday, and August has joined forces with the likes of Stimming , label-boss Solomun, and fellow label-mate Kollektiv Turmstrasse in spinning at one of the White Isle’s biggest weekday parties.

Check out David August’s promo mix for Diynamic’s NEON NIGHT, released August 10th. The mix is a beautiful combination of the hot, flurry heat which radiates from Ibiza’s windows to ours, and the smooth jazz-house that tingles the warm in our entering-Autumn hearts. In Ibiza or not, August and the whole Diynamic crew at Sankey’s continues to party on, and on, and on… We may not have traveled across the waters to reach your ray of sunshine, Ibiza, but we definitely feel it.

I’m back. Been a bit busy for the past couple months moving to Shanghai and starting classes, so here’s my apology. Felix Cartal’s new track, featuring foxy vocals from Maja Ivarrsson of The Sounds, had a ferocious electro house remix done by Botnek (worth looking up NOW), but this one by AutoErotique is truly mental. All Day I Dream of…

Strawberry Ice Cream? Beautiful women? Designer clothes? Winning the lottery? There are 24 hours in a day, and while most are spent asleep, the rest of the time we are busy commuting to and from the destinations we need to get to. In between the hustle and the bustle of making it to work, running errands, meeting him, meeting her and avoiding traffic all together, we have little to no time for ourselves, our thoughts, and our dreams.

Melodic, melancholic and exceptionally beautiful, the All Day I Dream of Her mix comes from British DJ, record label owner and producer Lee Burridge. Released about a year ago, this was his private playlist that, for a while, he gave away solely to girls on SoundCloud (flowers and roses are so last century ago by the way). In the mix’s description, Lee calls it the the best mix he’s ever made, full of dreamy house, music with emotions. He released this mix just prior to the launch of his own party and record label called All Day I Dream, in collaboration with German DJ/producer Matthew Dekay.

I’ll leave the words at that. Some things just speak for themselves. The faintest tingle of a bell can sometimes ring the loudest. Summer is time for the fast and furious, but once in a while, if you find yourself in need of an instant escape, to just dream a little dream or wonder a little wonder, pull this one up. Heaven is a place on Earth they say… Close your eyes, take some time off and slip into that third dimension.
